ORSONI MOSAIC SCHOOL MASTER IN MOSAICO In October 2006, I attended the Orsoni School's Master in Mosaics course in Venice, Italy. Venice Revisited and Fallen are the two mosaics I created during the 2-week class. Both are made with smalti and smalti golds and metallics. Venice Revisited is a mosaic interpretation of a photo my husband and I took in Venice in 1999. Fallen is a contemporary mosaic using Orsoni's fabulous metallic mosaics. Fallen was part of a juried exhibit at the Ciel Gallery, Charlotte, NC, September 2008. Fallen has also been chosen for inclusion in a book by Brit Hammer-Dijcks entitled, Mosaic - Finding Your Own Voice.

| At alla bizantina mosaics, my focus is on art mosaics as well as custom mosaic designs. I have done a variety of pieces, each meant to express a slightly different style.
I am a member of SAMA - Society of American Mosaic Artists, BAMM - British Association of Modern Mosaic, the International Association of Comtemporary Mosaicists, Guild of Charlotte Artists and the Charlotte Art League.

These two floor mosaics, commissioned by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Authority, were installed at the Mile 35 Visitors Center on Alligator Alley (I-75) outside of Ft. Lauderdale in April 2005.
Each mosaic is a "natural history" depiction of the Florida Everglades environment and highlights the difference between alligators and crocodiles. Each mosaic is 6'x6', not including the border tiles. This visitors center is a fun and educational place to learn about the Everglades and the efforts being made to restore it.

Mosaics, School and Children
In 2008, I was honored to work with the Metro School in Charlotte to create mosaics for the school. I assisted the art teacher - acting more as a technical advisor - in creating 10 mosaics. Each contains a photo from the old neighborhood surrunded by mosaics created by the children. Dedication was held May 2008.
In 2009, I worked with the Charlotte Secondary School, again acting as technical advisor, helping the 6th grade class create mosaics for the school.
